Two suspects, Ogunsola Oluwatomisin and Odusina Olukunle, were said to have been hired by one Jonah James, who had fatally beaten a cab driver, Igwe Monday, and dumped his body in a bush in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
James claimed to have given a vehicle to Monday for commercial purposes, and while suspecting that the deceased had absconded with his car, he engaged the suspects to locate and arrest him.
The accused confessed to intercepting the deceased and beating him to death, according to Ogun State Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu, noting that “his corpse was dumped at a bush near Faari Motorpark Ilese-Ijebu.”
According to Alamutu, an informant had, on September 23, discovered Monday’s corpse where it was dumped and informed the Anti-kidnapping unit of the Police at a pin-down point.
He explained that the police investigation led to the arrest of Ogunsola and Odusina.
The CP added that the principal suspect, James, is on the run, and an “intensive hunt to apprehend him and other fleeing suspects have been launched”, even as the investigation continues.
