A three-storey building under construction on Agarawu Street in the Lagos Island neighbourhood of Lagos State collapsed on Sunday, leaving two adult males injured.
CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the state Police Public Relations Officer, said in a statement on Sunday that the incident happened at 2 p.m. near the Agarawu Primary Health Centre.

However, he mentioned that the two men who had been trapped under the debris were rescued and taken to the Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina, for treatment.

He explained that police and emergency responders stepped in after a distress call was received at the Adeniji Adele Police Division.
He wrote, “On April 13, 2025, at 2pm, a distress call was received by the Adeniji Adele Division reporting the collapse of a 3-storey building under construction at No. 4 Agarawu Street, beside Agarawu Primary Health Centre, on Lagos Island.
“Swift rescue operations were launched, involving combined teams of armed police personnel, LASEMA, NEMA, and other emergency responders. Two adult male victims trapped in the building were rescued and taken to Lagos Island General Hospital Marina for medical treatment.”
He added that the site had been secured, and the surrounding area was calm and under control.
“The situation is currently under control, and further directives will be issued as necessary,” he added.
