The newly inaugurated 10th Governing Council of the University of Abuja has approved the appointment of Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi as the acting vice-chancellor of the University.
The ratification was announced after the inaugural meeting of the Council, led by Air Vice-Marshal Saddiq Ismaila Kaita (Rtd), on Friday, July 5, 2024.
This was contained in a statement by the Acting Director, Directorate of Information & University Relations, Dr. Habib Yakoob, and made available to newsmen in Abuja.

Maikudi, a professor of International Law, was a former deputy vice-chancellor, academic, in the administration of the immediate past Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abdurasheed Na’Allah.
According to the statement, Maikudi was earlier recommended by the Senate on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at its 185th Regular meeting held at the Main Campus, in accordance with the provisions of Section 4, subsection (4b) of the University of Abuja Acts, and section 5(13) of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Act 2003.
The acting Vice-Chancellor, in her response, said, “As we embark on this new journey together, I urge each member of the Governing Council to bring their wealth of experience, expertise, and passion to bear in fulfilling our collective mission.
“Your leadership and vision are crucial in guiding our university through these challenging times and towards a future of sustained growth and excellence.
