Bauchi Field Office of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on Friday officially released a song on awareness creation for immunisation zero dose in Bauchi to be used in the Five States that make up the Field Office.
The Bauchi Field Office comprises Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Plateau, and Taraba States.
Speaking at the presentation of the song held at the premises of the State Ministry of Health, UNICEF Health Specialist, Dr David Audu, said that the essence of the new song is to create awareness among parents on the need to allow their U-5 children to be immunised.
He stressed that UNICEF is so committed to ensuring that no child is left out of a full dose of immunisation anywhere in the states of the Field Office because, according to him, the vaccines are readily available in all of the facilities.
The UNICEF Health Specialist reiterated the commitment of UNICEF to creating more awareness among the communities on the need to access quality and standard healthcare service delivery.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner of Health, Dr Sani Mohammed Dambam, stressed the importance of creating awareness to mobilise parents to allow their children to be immunised against all child-killer diseases.
The Commissioner, who was represented by a Director in the Ministry, commended UNICEF for releasing the new song, whose lyrics he said are explicitly arranged and clear, while the music is fascinating and danceable, which will attract more attention.
He then assured that the Ministry will continue to collaborate with all implementation partners in order to achieve the set objectives of improved healthcare delivery services in the state.
Chairman of Polio Survivors in Bauchi State urged parents to allow their children to be fully immunised so that they will not be victims of poliomyelitis, thereby becoming liabilities to their parents, communities, and society at large.
