A US-based Nigerian journalist identified as Ike Ihiala has promised to pay Twitter monthly subscription for Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Recall Twitter on Thursday bid goodbye to its ‘legacy’ blue ticks following its Chief Executive Officer, Elon Musk‘s controversial decision to switch up the platform’s verification system.

The development has affected several individuals including Peter Obi as Twitter insists on a $8 monthly payment to subscribe to its ‘Twitter Blue’ if account holders must retain their verification badge, or for those who want to get the blue tick newly.

Numerous checkmarks disappeared from Twitter accounts for the users who were reluctant to pay $8 a month for the traditional blue badge.

Reacting, Ike Ihiala volunteered to pay for the monthly subscription of the Twitter verification badge of Mr Peter Obi.

“Since @elonmusk is personally paying for the @TwitterBlue Verification Badge of at least three celebrities, I’ll pay for the restoration/monthly subscription of the Verification Badge of the People’s President, H.E.  @PeterObi.

“We don’t want criminal elements impersonating the People’s President in any guise on this super information highway. @Twitter, how do we go about this, ASAP?” He wrote on his Twitter handle on Friday.
