Dequantes Lamar, widely known by his stage name Rich Homie Quan, has passed away at the age of 33. The Atlanta rapper, who rose to prominence in 2013, reportedly died on Thursday in Georgia.
According to a statement from the Fulton County Medical Examiner, the rapper’s death was confirmed by Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
The exact cause and manner of death remain unknown, with an autopsy scheduled for Friday, September 6, 2024.
The statement read, “On Thursday, 5 September 2024, the Fulton County Medical Examiner was notified by Grady Memorial Hospital of the death of Dequantes Devontay Lamar. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday, 6 September 2024.”
Born on October 4, 1989, in Atlanta, Rich Homie Quan became a significant figure in the 2010s trap music scene.
He collaborated with well-known artists such as Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, YG, Young Thug, and Trinidad James, among others.
Quan gained widespread recognition with his 2013 hit single “Type of Way,” which climbed to No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, cementing his place in the hip-hop industry.
