Verizon customers have ridiculed the telecoms company after receiving meagre payouts from a $100 million settlement fund.
The settlement was reached after the company faced allegations of misleading customers about undisclosed fees in its wireless service plans between 2016 and 2023.
The payments were distributed to current and former Verizon account holders, with the maximum payout set at $100. While Verizon did not admit to any wrongdoing, it agreed to the settlement.
However, the amounts received by customers have sparked widespread frustration. One recipient posted a screenshot on X, revealing she had received just $3.85. “I need to see the court documents,” she fumed. “Y’all got me f**ked up.” She added that the company “could’ve kept the cash.”
Another customer sarcastically thanked Verizon, sharing: “Thanks for the $5.63 from the settlement.” Similarly, a third user lashed out, stating, “I just got my Verizon settlement, pls dnt p*** me off.”
Screenshots shared on social media showed customers receiving varying amounts, with some pocketing $14.81, while others were left with as little as $3.55.
The settlement, meant to resolve claims of misleading practices, has left many feeling shortchanged.
