Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has tendered an apology to the Nigeria Police Force for the use of an outfit resembling a police uniform, at the same time calling himself CSP, a rank in the police force,
In a video and statement shared on his Instagram account on Wednesday, VeryDarkMan revealed that he had recently visited a police station for questioning regarding the video.
The statement:
”Back from the police station where I was interrogated based on the post I made wearing a costume that the police claim is similar to theirs, I didn’t intend to impersonate the police in anyway and I tender my unreserved apologies to the Nigeria police force and the office of the inspector general of police.
”I will like to use the medium to tell the general public to always seek permission from the police or other law enforcement agencies before using anything that might look like their unifor.
VDM advised, ‘You might want to use it for good but there are others that might want to use it for bad,so it’s good to get full approval before using anything that might seem impersonating👍 @nigeriapoliceforce
Reflecting on the incident, he expressed that it had imparted valuable lessons.
“I learned a few things. We learn every day. I made my video and said CSP. What I meant was Chief Social Media Person; however, the Nigeria Police has a rank called Chief Superintendent of Police.
He further urged the public to seek permission from law enforcement agencies before wearing any attire that resembles police uniforms.
“I would like to use this opportunity to urge the general public to always seek permission from the police or other law enforcement agencies before using anything that might resemble their uniform.
TribuneOnline, earlier reported that Nigeria Police Force condemned VeryDarkMan’s unauthorized use of its official uniform and initiated an investigation into the matter.
