The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that they do not have any pact or agreement with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State.
There have been insinuations and reports that the opposition party, due to the actions of some of its leaders, might have signed a pact with the Biodun Oyebanji-led APC government in the state.
But the South West executives of the party at the weekend, while meeting with leaders and stakeholders in the PDP in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, called on members to close ranks and form a united front for the party’s interest.
The delegation led by the new zonal PDP chairman, Kamarudeen Ajisafe, was received by the state chairman, Alaba Agboola, and his executives, including other leaders.
Present at the meeting included former Acting Governor Tunji Odeyemi, former deputy governors Professor Kolapo Olusola-Eleka, and Dr Sikiru Tae Lawal.
Also present were Senator Duro Faseyi; former National Treasurer Wale Aribisala; former House of Representatives members Kehinde Odebunmi, Chief Akin Awodumila; former Speaker and members of state House of Assembly, Kola Oluwawole, Dr Samuel Omotoso and Wale Ayeni.
Speaking with newsmen after the meeting, the zonal publicity secretary, Chief Sanya Atofarati said leaders in the party agreed to work together to provide credible opposition to the APC in the state.
He explained that the zonal chairman, Ajisafe warned members of the PDP in Ekiti and other states in the zone engaging in activities detrimental to the growth and progress of the party, adding that appropriate punitive measures would be handed down on those found culpable.
The zonal PDP spokesman commended the party executives and the leaders for their commitment and dedication for the progress of the party in the state and returning it to winning ways.

Atofarati said , ” The party debunks speculations that the party may be having pact with the ruling APC. The PDP is putting measures in place to unseat the incumbent governor Oyebanji at the next ballot.
“With the political status of leaders present here today, it is unambiguous to say the leadership of the PDP in Ekiti State are ready. These are the owners of the party and reputable leaders who have contributed immensely to the growth of this state through their public service.
” We understand that reconciliation is a process and not a destination. We shall continue the regular discussions and consultations as we move on but one thing is achieved today and that is the leaders resolve to prioritize party’s interest over and above all other interests.
” The Zonal Chairman, Barr Kamarudeen Ajisafe, read the riots act to members alleged of anti party activities across the six states of the region saying the PDP will not hesitate to sanction any members found wanting of act capable of bringing the party to disrepute.”
