…Lauds Methodist Church Nigeria for spiritual support
Governor, State of Osun, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, has reassured the people of the state of his total commitment towards engendering good living condition as well as enabling environment for growth.
He, however, added that his administration remained grateful to the Methodist Church Nigeria for their relentless support for his government through prayers.
Oyetola, stated this in Osogbo on Thursday, while receiving in audience the leadership of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Osun Diocese, during its annual new year prayer visit, led by the Archbishop of Ilesa, Most Reverend Amos Akindeko.
Speaking through his Deputy, Benedict Alabi, the Governor maintained that the power of God has continued to manifest in the life of his administration, saying this is evident in the unprecedented success recorded in the year 2020, despite the turbulence and challenges that characterised the year from the first quarter to the last.
He explained that for the first time in the history of any state in Nigeria, Osun was able to record 95 percent budget implementation.
Oyetola, expressed optimism that the performance of his administration in the year 2021 would surpass that of the outgone year, adding that it is for that reason that his administration has coined the budget for this year ‘Budget of Providence’ for recovery and restoration of glory.
He said, “Our government believes so much in God and in the efficacy of prayers, we are so much appreciative of your support in prayers.
” For the first Time in history, our state recorded 95 percent budget implementation in the outgone year 2020, and this was achieved despite the challenges that we faced, ranging from Covid-19 pandemic to Endsars protests, definitely, the hand of God is upon the state”.
Oyetola then advised the religious leaders to take every laid down protocol to flatten the curve of COVID-19 seriously, and also guide their followers to do the same and stay safe .
He continued,” As Christian leaders, let us take the message to our followers in different places of our worship that they should take responsibility, do the needful and always contribute their quotas to the success of government and the progress of the society in general.
“Our government shall continue to appreciate your support in prayers and we will not relent in our efforts to bring progress and development to the state”.
In his remarks, the Archbishop of Ilesa Diocese of Methodist Church Nigeria, Most Reverend Amos Akindeko, said the annual new year prayer visit was part of responsibility and commitment of the church to commit the government and the state into the able hands of God for his peace to continue to reign supreme.
” We are here again in our usual way in the beginning of a new year to pray for the Government and the entire state as part of our commitment to the success of government.
“We know that this administration needs our support in prayers, which we are here to give”, Akindeko said.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, Osun State Council, Most Reverend Amos Ogunrinde, enjoined the governor to remain faithful to God and never relent in prayers for success all through.
He used the occasion to commend the state government for listening to the voice of the Christian leaders in the state by allowing the new year cross over service to take place moderately in all places of worship as against the earlier pronouncement.
The leadership of the church, during the visit prayed for the state, the Governor and his cabinet, as well as the country at large.
