The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says it has not yet concluded the date to start conducting the May/June examination for school-based candidates in digital format.

The organization explained that, for now, its computer-based exams are restricted to private candidates, which already started with the first series held in February this year and will continue with the second series commencing this Friday.

The Head of the Public Affairs Department of WAEC Nigeria, Mrs. Moyosola Adesina, issued the announcement regarding the commencement of the second series exam for private candidates and the modality on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the examination, which will run until Friday, December 20, will adopt a hybrid mode, which combines online and paper-and-pen formats.

Explaining this, the organization said candidates have the option of either taking their multiple-choice questions, practicals, and essays on pen/pencil and paper throughout or doing the same online using the computer system provided in the exam halls.

“So, the choice of which mode to use in this diet is to be decided by the candidates,” the statement pointed out.

The organization, however, said it had extended the registration for the exam for intending candidates to Tuesday, October 29, since only the practical exams will be held for the first few days.

It also noted that the “Walk-in Candidate” opportunity (for candidates who register 24 hours before the particular paper of their choice is due to be taken) will be open at the end of the registration.

“The final timetable for the examination is available for download on the WAEC Nigeria website

“Therefore, both intending and registered candidates are advised to take advantage of the numerous learning resources provided by the council.”

These, according to the organization, include signing up on the WAEC e-Study platform purchasing the WAEC Past Questions and Answers books, and joining other candidates to interact on the WAECKonnect platform.
