Newly crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, recently opened up about her decision to delete her X account.
Recall that Adetshina, recently faced backlash in South Africa during her participation in the Miss South Africa pageant, explained that the negativity became overwhelming and The South African Department of Home Affairs (DHA) had previously alleged her mother for being involved in fraud and identity theft, fueling public criticism.
She explained in an interview with Arise 360 that she took this step after facing a wave of negative comments and criticism to save her mental health.
“I had to delete it because I felt like it was too much for me. I’m a comment reader, so I read each and every comment; that’s the thing. So for me, I could spend 80% of my day reading comments,” Adetshina said.
She continued, “I’d read the comments and all, and it became toxic for me. I use Instagram but I did limit my comment section one time.”
Despite the challenges, Chidimma expressed gratitude to her fans for their continued support during the difficult period.
Chidinma, however, thanked her fans for the support she received.
