Nigerian music sensation Bella Shmurda has made a revelation about his decision to quit smoking Indian hemp, a substance synonymous with many Nigerian music acts.
The talented artiste, known for his hits and collaborations, disclosed that he chose to break ties with the habit due to mounting anxiety about his future.
In a recent podcast monitored by Tribune Online, Shmurda, a close associate of late Nigerian musician, Mohbad, shared that smoking weed, or “hemp” as it is commonly referred to locally, would often trigger intense anxiety, leaving him perplexed.

Determined to regain control over his mental health and well-being, the singer said he made the conscious choice to put an end to his reliance on the substance.
Reflecting on his journey, Shmurda revealed a significant shift in his lifestyle, stating that he now solely indulges in cigarettes and alcoholic beverages, contrasting with his heavy use of weed four years prior.
“I quit smoking weed about four years ago. Her anxiety started mounting each time I took it. It became very difficult for me to deal with the intense anxiety, so I had to stop smoking weed and focus mainly on cigarettes and liquor”, he added.
