A Civil Society Organisation, Muryar Talaka (Voice of the Masses), emphasizes the importance of celebrating the late Shehu Yar’Adua for his dedication to the development of the country.
The group’s National Secretary, Mr. Bishir Dauda, made this statement in Katsina on Wednesday during a lecture held in memory of the late elder statesman.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the late politician was a general and Chief of Staff in the Olusegun Obasanjo military administration.
According to Dauda, the purpose of the event was to educate the younger generation about the contributions of Yar’Adua in deepening democracy and good governance in the country.
“Most of the youths of nowadays are not aware of the late Yar’Adua’s contribution to the development of the country because either they were little or not born at that time.
“He has done a lot to ensure sustainable democracy that we are now enjoying in the country.
“Therefore, his contribution should not be forgotten by Nigerians.
“There is the need for us to be celebrating him always like we celebrate other past leaders.
