The Zamfara chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has attributed the absence of nationwide protests in the north-western state to the effective governance of Governor Dauda Lawal.
Acting Chairman Muktar Lugga made this statement on Friday in Gusau while discussing the violent protests and looting sprees occurring in some neighboring states.
The protests which began on Thursday. “Zamfara residents are pleased with the current administration; they recognize the significant achievements being made,” Lugga stated.
He highlighted various initiatives taken by the government, including the declaration of a state of emergency on education and health, payment of backlogged gratuities, road construction and reconstruction, renovation and equipping of schools and hospitals, and interventions in agricultural businesses.

While acknowledging the existing hardships, Lugga expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to address the country’s socioeconomic challenges. “Besides the state government’s actions, we will continue to pray for the president’s success in fixing the nation’s economy,” he said.
Lugga also urged the people to remain law-abiding and pray for the leaders to overcome the nation’s challenges.
Gusau and other towns in Zamfara remained calm, with no protests observed on Friday, the second day of demonstrations expected to continue until August 10.
