Osun government on Thursday said it has managed to keep crime rate low, using dialogue with different segments of the society, especially non indigenes residing in Osun.
This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Mr. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, while speaking with newsmen on the activities of the agency in the past one year.
Oyintiloye, who said the civic engagement team had visited over 1,000 rural communities in the last one year, meeting the residents to know their needs, noted that dwellers of most villages visited had good perception of the current administration in the state.
He then commended Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for the directive he gave that all the demands of different communities and groups collated through the civic engagement meetings held across the state should be collected by the Ministry of Budget for inclusion in next year’s budget.
“In the last 365 days, we have visited over 1,000 villages, communities and settlements across the state. The governor owns the vision behind the meeting which was designed to take government to every corner of the state, especially the rural areas.
“Through these meetings, the government has been able to identify potential security threat and manage it. Beyond the use of security men, dialogue with various groups, especially non indigenes living in the state, has assisted the government to keep crime rate low and prevent infiltration.
“The reception of the current administration has been warm in all the places visited and the team is not resting. We have the mandate of the governor to move round all parts of the state to further deepen the leadership and the led relationship to engender more development,” Oyintiloye said.
