A Project Management expert and MD, Sub-Saharan Africa, Project Management Institute (PMI), George Asamani, has identified robust project management, disciplined executive and a clear understanding of the market, as crucial ingredients for entrepreneurs, desirous of making an impact.

Defining project management as the discipline of planning, organising, and overseeing the successful completion of projects, Asamani sees it as a strategic discipline that can make the difference between a startup that thrives and one that fails.

According to him, a startup built on a solid project management framework is also better equipped to align its operations with broader social and environmental goals.

Asamani noted that while the advent of technology has continued to be a major contributing factor to the success of any entrepreneurship, he however believed without the aforementioned ingredients,  the most innovative startups risk becoming footnotes in the history of entrepreneurship.

He added that young people have continued to be at the forefront of innovation and creativity in today’s rapidly- evolving digital landscape, a development, he noted, has gone a long way in empowering them to become innovators, creators, and problem solvers.

“However, success in the digital age requires more than visionary ideas and venture capital. Without disciplined execution, robust project management, and a clear understanding of the market, even the most innovative startups risk becoming footnotes in the history of entrepreneurship,” he added.

The PMI boss stated further that while technology offers boundless possibilities,  technology alone isn’t enough, arguing that startups need project management to transform ideas into viable projects.
