The Olukoyi of Ikoyiland in Isokan Local Government Area of Osun State, Oba Taofeek Iyiola Akande, has described a traditionalist and leader of Odua Peoples Congress (OPC), Chief Raji Teslim Akerele as a true son of the community who always fighting for the growth and development of the town.

The monarch made this known during the installation of Chief Akerele as the new Bashorun and his wife Ganiyat, as Yeye Bashorun of Ikoyiland.

Oba Akande who commended the new Bashorun of Ikoyi for his unrelenting efforts at bringing development to the land, enjoined other indigenes to emulate him.

While commending citizens of the community for their support since he became their monarch, Oba Akande further sought their cooperation in the development of the town, saying his efforts in transforming Ikoyiland cannot be overemphasised.

“I want you all to always fight for the progress of the town like Chief Akerele who has never tired of working for the development of our community.

“I’m using this period to call on Chief Akerele not to relent in his efforts in bringing development to our town,” Oba Akande said.

In his acceptance speech, Chief Akerele promised not to let the Olukoyi and people of the community down, adding that he will continue to work for the progress and growth of the town.

“I want to appreciate Oba Olukoyi and the Olukoyi-in-Council for making me the Bashorun and my wife, Yeye Bashorun of Ikoyi land, we are elated and we promise not to betray the confidence reposed in us,” Akerele said.

Chairman of Isokan Local Government Area of Osun State, Alhaji Mufutau Amoo, described the new Bashorun and Yeye Bashorun of Ikoyiland as a true son and daughter of the land, saying they had been pursuing the betterment of Ikoyiland for long, adding they deserved the honour while calling on other residents to emulate them.
