225 bags of grains have been distributed to the less privileged and the neediest by the Zakkat Committee in the Sama Ward of the Ningi local government area of Bauchi State.
Speaking during the distribution exercise held in the Kajala community, the District Head of Burra, Alh Ya’u Shehu Abubakar, expressed his delight with the courage of the people to give out their Zakkat to the assigned committee.
Represented by Alh Shehu Kwadabe, the District Head also commended the efforts of the Village Head for uniting his people in the righteous work.
He challenged the other four village heads in his jurisdiction to emulate the gesture.
Speaking earlier, the village head of Sama, Alh Ibrahim Aliyu Halad, stated that they collected 225 bags of grains, which comprised sorghum, maize, soy beans, and rice.
He noted that all the grains were received from the farmers, and the exercise was the fourth of its kind in his area.
The Chief Imam of Ningi, represented by Mal Hussaini Shehu Imam, explained that Zakkat is one of the pillars of Islam imposed on farmers, traders, and wealthy individuals.
Mal. Hussaini Imam called on the people to give out zakkat when due and to adhere strictly according to the guidelines and teachings of Islam.
