The Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC) has announced the results of the local government elections held on Saturday.
According to the commission, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won all 14 local government chairmanship positions and 147 councilor seats in the state.
During the announcement on Sunday, ZASIEC Chairman, Bala Aliyu stated that the PDP candidates emerged victorious after receiving the highest number of votes.
“After the collation exercise for the just concluded local government elections in the state, PDP candidates had emerged victorious across all the 14 LGAs in the state”. He mentioned.
“The local government included Gusau, Kaura-Namoda, Maru, Talata Mafara, Anka, Bakura,Zurmi,Birnin Magaji, Shinkafi,Tsafe,Gummi, Bukkuyum, Maradun and Bungudu”.
He described the elections as free, fair, and credible, attributing the success of the exercise to the collaborative efforts of security agencies, election officials, and voters.
The PDP representative at the collation centre Mallam Wadatau Madawaki, expressed his satisfaction with the election results,saying this is a resounding endorsement of the PDP’s leadership and it’s commitment to more development in the state.
