I am pleading with President Bola Tinubu to establish specialist hospitals in the six geo-political zones to treat prostate cancer. One of the most common types of cancer in men is prostate cancer. It is said that prostate cancer that is detected early has a better chance of successful treatment provided if the patient goes to a specialist hospital.
However, some of the best specialist doctors on prostate cancer have travelled abroad. The Federal Government is expected to appeal to the Nigerian medical experts on prostate cancer to come home. Those who can afford foreign medical bills have travelled abroad for medical attention to treat prostate cancer. However, prostate cancer patients have continued to die in our hospitals. The healthcare industry in Nigeria remains backward.
There are many specialist hospitals owned by United Kingdom government to treat its sick citizens. Nigerian leaders should emulate the leaders of the United Kingdom.
Let me use this medium to appeal to Nigerian medical specialist doctors on prostate cancer in diaspora to come back to Nigeria to help in operating those who are suffering from prostate cancer. They can go back after their intervention. Of a truth, President Tinubu is also a man, and this prostate cancer is rampant among men. He should act fast on this by putting the necessary machinery in place to establish specialist hospitals in Nigeria to treat prostate cancer patients.
