

In a significant breakthrough, the FCT Police Command has successfully apprehended a notorious armed robbery kingpin, Chukwuemeka Oputa, also known as “Pounds and Dollar,” along with four accomplices.
The arrest comes following extensive investigations into a series of armed robberies and other criminal activities within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Chukwuemeka Oputa, aged 38 and hailing from Umuaka, Njaba, Imo State, was identified as the leader of the armed robbery gang responsible for numerous heinous crimes in the FCT.
His apprehension was, according to Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, facilitated by the prior arrest of Moses Hassan, a cultist and member of the same gang, on February 14, 2024.
Subsequent investigations led to the capture of three other gang members: Praise Etta, Rafael Dav (also known as Raffy), and Thomas Akange.

All suspects, according to police, have confessed to their involvement in various armed robberies and other criminal activities in the FCT while they are confirmed members of the Vikings confraternity cult group.
A significant cache of exhibits was recovered during the arrests, including four locally fabricated AK47 rifles, three locally made rifles utilizing cartridges, an English pistol, a locally made pistol, and a Dane gun.
“Several exhibits, such as four (4) locally fabricated AK47 rifles, three (3) locally made rifles using cartridges, an English pistol, one locally made pistol, a Dane gun, and three (3) AK47 ammunitions, a 5.56mm assault ammunition, and an empty cartridge, were recovered from the suspects.”
Furthermore, three AK47 ammunitions, a 5.56mm assault ammunition, and an empty cartridge were also seized from the suspects.
The Police boss said the FCT Police Command will continue to prioritize public safety and remains dedicated to combating crime and ensuring the security of all residents within the territory.
