Following the declaration of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the winner of Saturday’s presidential election, some personalities have congratulated the President-elect.

Among them is the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi; the Chairman, of Interparty Advisory Council (IPAC), Osun State chapter, Wale Adebayo; and the Director of Protocols and Events North presidential campaign council, Alh Dr Sanusi Abubakar Gamji.

In his congratulatory message, Ojelabi assured Nigerians that the President-elect will fulfil the social contract by delivering in totality on his manifesto of renewed hope to usher in an era of peace, security, prosperity, nationwide growth and our restoration to a place of pride in the comity of nations.

He also commended Nigerians for defying the excruciating challenges they are being confronted with to perform their responsibilities to further entrench the country’s democracy.

The statement reads, “chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated the President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his well-deserved victory in the recently held presidential elections.

I acknowledged the wide support for Asiwaju across board despite the keen nature of the contest.

The electoral body, INEC, the security agencies and other stakeholders will go down in history as midwives to a free, fair, transparent and historic election in Nigeria.

The role of the opposition parties who made a keen contest of the election by providing options for the electorate was significant of tremendous growth in our nascent democracy.

“I assured that the President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will fulfil his part of the social contract with all Nigerians by delivering in totality on his manifesto of renewed hope to usher in an era of peace, security, prosperity, nationwide growth and our restoration to a place of pride in the comity of nations.

“Nigerians have chosen a prepared president whose selling point remains his antecedent, pedigree and unwavering commitment to progressive governance.”

Also, in a statement signed by Adebayo hours after Tinubu’s declaration on Wednesday, he described his victory as a testament of renewed hope for a better Nigeria

He said, “I congratulate the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, and the vice president-elect, Kashim Shettima, on their resounding victory in Saturday’s presidential election, this is a testament of renewed hope for a better Nigeria.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Tinubu the winner of the 2023 presidential election.

Tinubu polled a total of 8,794,726 votes, while Atiku came second with 6,984,520 votes and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi came third with 6,101,533 votes.

Adebayo described Tinubu as an astute political strategist whose contributions to democracy resonate across the country and beyond.

He said the people of Nigeria have spoken with their vote a great hope for Nigeria, ThroughTinubu’s presidency”, the statement read.

He, however, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the success in the electoral process of the presidential election while he charged INEC to do more in the upcoming gubernatorial election slated to hold on the 11th of March.

Similarly, Dr Abubakar, who is also the Coordinator of Kogi State ICC and Chairman, Data, Research and Verification, ICC, said this victory came as a result of hard work, goodwill from the people of Nigeria and God’s favour.

He thanked the people of Kogi State, North Central and the entire people of Nigeria for their love for Asiwaju, saying that he is confident that Asiwaju will deliver on his campaign promises to the people.

He called on the people to continue to ensure peaceful coexistence while praying for a better, more united and prosperous Nigeria.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank the people of Nigeria, north central and Kogi state for delivering massive votes for Asiwaju.

“I’m very confident that given the antecedents of Asiwaju, his presidency will bring development and prosperity to our dear country, Nigeria.

“Today, history is made, the people have spoken with one voice, they were united in their quest for better Nigeria and we are confident that together we can overcome our numerous challenges,” he added.

He called on those who lost out in the election to accept the outcome and assured that Asiwaju as a nationalist will be magnanimous in victory, saying this victory is a victory for all Nigerians.
