The management of Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara state, on Friday, has advised newly intakes against indulging in cultism, cybercrime, examination malpractices and other antisocial activities.
The Rector of the institution, Dr. Lateef Olatunji, made this known in his speech during the 27th matriculation ceremony held at the 1,000 capacity Auditorium, Main Campus, Offa.
He added that the new intakes are lucky to sail through to be admitted, matriculating today.
Olatunji implored the students to stay away completely from any act of drug abuse, indecent dressing, cultism and the likes, saying that the Polytechnic has zero tolerance for these vices.
He added that cheating during examination or continuous assessment, stealing, physical and sexual assault are prohibited.
“If you are caught and found guilty of any of these vices, the Polytechnic will not desist to take the appropriate sanction, which may include expulsion,” he warned.
Dr. Olatunji said that the institution is among the most sought-after due to its stable academic calendar, and that all its programmes are fully accredited at the ND and HND levels with seasoned lecturers.
The Rector added that after accreditation by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the polytechnic will commence National Diploma in Art and Design, Purchasing and Supply, Public Administration, Agricultural Technology, Agricultural Engineering, Geological Technology, Hospitality Management, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering and Petroleum Resources Engineering. While Surveying and Geoinformatics, Urban and Regional Planning will start running Higher National Diploma (HND) programs.
