NEM Insurance Plc has announced the appointment of Mrs Ifunanya Iwuagwu as its new Company Secretary and Legal Adviser.
The company, which made the announcement in a notification issued by its Managing Director, Mr Andrew Ikekhua and sent to Nigeria Exchange Limited (NGX) last week, said the appointment took effect from January 30.
Ikekhua said that Iwuagwu would replace Mrs Olajumoke Philip-Akede who resigned from the company, effective December 29, 2023, adding that the appointment followed an approval from National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).
“The board and management of NEM Insurance Plc are confident of Iwuagwu’s wealth of knowledge and experience,” the Managing Director said.
According to him, Iwuagwu is a highly-skilled legal practitioner having graduated from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, in 2002 with over 15 years of relevant experience.
The new Company Secretary started her professional career as a legal officer with Messrs Taiwo Kupolati & Co. where she appeared in courts of various cadres and had garnered experience in litigation and was an assistant Editor with the Federation Weekly Law Reports.
Iwuagwu joined the firm of Messrs Koya & Kuti Solicitors in 2009 where she acquired experience in legal drafting and negotiation as well as in corporate and commercial law practice.
In 2014, she was employed as a Legal Executive by Red Star Express Plc and served in several capacities such as Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the Red Star Foundation Ltd/Gte.
Recently, Iwuagwu emerged as a member of the Group Executive Committee and served as Head, Legal/Legal Adviser to the company.
Iwuagwu attended several trainings and courses in dispute resolutions and mediation and corporate governance and is a member of Institute of Credit Administrators, a chartered secretary, administrator and certified data analyst.
