Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), a prominent Nollywood actor, has voiced his discomfort with being called a “legend,” dismissing the title as a “scam.”
In a conversation on Curiosity Made Me Ask, posted on YouTube Sunday, RMD shared that he doesn’t embrace the “legend” label, believing that it is misleading.

He feels that actors like Olu Jacobs and Pete Edochie truly deserve such recognition and doesn’t see himself in the same light just yet.

RMD further stated that being called a “legend” implies he’s nearing the end of his career.
“I think all those ‘legend’ things are a scam. I have my legends like uncle Olu Jacobs, uncle Peter, those are our ancestors, our legends,” RMD explained.
“I was still watching him when he was saying Ribena children are healthy children. So I don’t subscribe to that. I think it is a scam when they call me legend because they are trying to relegate me to that neighbourhood of retired people or should be nearing retirement. So, no, I don’t subscribe to it.”
Born on July 6, 1961, in Aladja, Udu Kingdom, Delta State, RMD completed his primary and secondary education in Warri before studying Theater Arts at the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
With over three decades in the Nigerian film industry, RMD is one of the most influential figures in Nollywood.
