The management of Bayero University, Kano, has expressed shock over the death of a 400-level student of the Faculty of Education, Binta Isa.
The Deputy Registrar, Public Affairs, BUK, Lamara Garba, in a statement, said Isa was found dead at her hostel around 7pm on Friday shortly after she complained of acute chest pain.
The varsity Director, Health Services, one Dr Gezawa, noted that the late student had previously visited the New Campus Clinic last Wednesday and complained of chest pain and was given drugs.
She reportedly responded to treatment and attended lectures on Thursday and Friday.
“On Friday, November 26, 2021, in the evening towards Magrib prayer, her symptoms deteriorated, as she complained of chest pain to her roommates. But she struggled to perform ablution and prayed the Maghrib prayer in the room.
“However, her roommates were shocked a few minutes later when they found her lifeless body on the floor, prompting them to raise the alarm and rush her to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where she was confirmed dead by doctors,” the statement read.
