The three students of Tansian International College, Okpuno in the Awka South Local Council area killed by lightning while playing football have been unveiled.

In a press statement signed by Mr Christian Aburime, Press Secretary to Governor Charles Soludo the names were given as “sixteen-year-old Obi Francis Chukwunwuike from Nteje, Anambra , sixteen-year-old Obeta Michael Uchechukwu from Nsukka, Enugu and nineteen-year-old Usulor Chidubem Emmanuel from Ezza, Ebonyi”.

Part of the statement read: “In a heart-wrenching moment for Anambra State and its government, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, who has also lately lost his own father at the age of 92, extends his deepest condolences to the Tansi International College community, their grieving students, as well as the bereaved families who have lost their beloved three children following the devastating effects of electrostatic discharge from lightening that unfolded on the school grounds in Anambra.

“Governor Soludo acknowledges the profound magnitude of this loss to the State and offers fervent prayers to the Almighty to grant both the school and the bereaved families the strength to endure this irreplaceable loss”.

The statement added that to avert the possibility of such heartrending incidents in the future, Governor Soludo earnestly urged students to seek shelter indoors and abstain from outdoor activities once the rain begins to fall, as lightning can strike without warning.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, has offered his condolences to Governor Soludo and the entire Soludo family of Umueze village, Isuofia over the passing of their patriarch, Pa Simeon Nwankwo Soludo (Akudinanwa).

In a statement released by the Head, of Corporate Communications, United Nigeria Airlines, Mr. Achilleus-Chud Uchegbu, Prof. Okonkwo expressed his deepest condolences and sympathies to Governor Soludo and his family during this difficult time.

He acknowledged the loss of a parent as an indescribable tragedy, emphasising the immense role parents play in shaping our lives and providing guidance.

Reflecting on the remarkable life of Pa Simeon Nwankwo Soludo, who lived to the age of 92, Prof. Okonkwo prayed that the cherished memories and lasting legacies of the late patriarch would bring solace to the grieving family.

He further encouraged them to hold onto these precious memories and legacies as a testament to the deep love and connection they shared.
