Nationnewslead report that The residents of Iloko-Ijesa Community in Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State have appealed to the state and local government to repair or reconstruct the Iloko-Ijesa Road to improve the economy of the area.

Speaking on behalf of members of the community on Tuesday, a community leader, High Chief Ademola JAS Osedahunsi, Baba Saba of Iloko-Ijesa explained that if the road was constructed, it would ease the movement of farm produce to the markets and improve the economic life of the people of the community.

According to him, the residents Iloko-Ijesa had been experiencing difficulty regarding their vehicular movements.

He said, “We need the help of both the state and local governments to reconstruct the road linking the community to other neighboring town. The road has been washed away by erosion.

“Our roads have also become impassable as vehicle owners in our community now park their cars at the entrance of the community exposing them to thieves and vandals. This is why we are begging the government to do something on the matter.

“We are appealing to the state and local government to come to the aid of our community to make life bearable for the residents. The condition of our roads is too bad and we need the intervention of the government,”

Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa, Alayeluwa Oba Dr. Akeem Olusayo King Benjamin Ogungbangbe added that if the road was well reconstructed, it would benefit the farmers and commuters traveling to Ekiti State and other parts of the country.

“The link road is the shortest route for travellers going to the south-west part of Nigeria from Lagos, Ondo State, Ekiti State instead of passing through Ilesa. The road will open up the economic interaction between Ondo state and Ekiti state from this axis.”

“That is why we are calling on the Federal Government, State and local government to extend it’s rural road transformation policy to include this Iloko-Ijesa road to usher development to the community because importance of good road network to the development of any community cannot be underestimated,” he stressed.
