Abdulhamid undertook the project as part of her Community Development Service (CDS), explaining that the lack of access to clean water had left the community, including nearby villages, struggling. She noted that the situation had led to cases of waterborne diseases, particularly among children.
“I was deeply concerned about the community’s struggle to access potable water,” she said. Abdulhamid expressed gratitude to the local government chairman, Alhaji Bala Garba-Tsanni, for his quick response and support for her proposal. She urged other council chairmen to emulate Garba-Tsanni’s commitment to community development.
Alhaji Ibrahim Sa’idu, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator in Katsina, lauded Abdulhamid for her initiative during the project’s commissioning. He encouraged local leaders to sponsor corps members’ CDS projects, emphasising that such initiatives are vital for the communities they serve.
The village head of Dandagoro, Alhaji Muttaka Magaji, expressed relief and appreciation for the restoration of the boreholes. He acknowledged the suffering the community had endured over the past two years, with little help from politicians. In his remarks, he prayed for the corps member, the NYSC, and the nation, grateful for the restoration of clean water in the area.
