Osun Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has charged residents not to lose their guard in the fight against COVID-19.
He also assured the vaccine is safe and effective, dismissing conspiracy theories surrounding vaccination.
He spoke through his Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, Hon Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, when he visited some worship centers in Ilesa in continuation of campaign against COVID-19 on Sunday.
The Governor said: “Although there’s hope for us as a society due to the to the recent discovery of Covid-19 vaccine but this is not a reason for us to jettison all the protocols as stipulated by the government.
“Its therefore behooves on all of us to adhere strictly to the rules such as wearing of nose, use of alcohol based sanitizer, social distance, among other measures that can help in averting community transmission.”
Minister-in-Charge of the Sacred Cheruibim and Seraphim Church, Idasa Ilesa, Elder Apostle Michael Olatunji and Pastor Isaac Fakunle of the Apostolic Church of Nigeria, Oke Ooye Ilesa commended the administration for swift action in containment of the pandemic.
Minister- in- charge of Victory life Chapel International, Imon Ilesa Pastor Aderanti Adewoye and Very Rev. D.I Fadugba of St. John Anglican Cathedral, Iloro Ilesa assured the state government the church is resolute to join forces with other stakeholders in combating the virus.
