There are desperate plans by the Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East (Uyo) Sentorial District, Obong Bassey Albert (OBA) to defect to the All Progressive Party (APC) in order to secure the Party’s ticket to run as Governor in 2023.
Inside sources in OBA’s camp disclosed that OBA is desperately in talks with the Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan to convince the Minister of Niger Delta, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the National Secretary of the APC, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe who is also eyeing the Governorship ticket of the APC in Akwa Ibom State, to renege on his ambition and allow him (OBA) to clinch the APC ticket, as he has the political structure as well as the support base to win the Governorship election slated for 2023.
Our source also hinted that series of meetings held in regards to OBA’s defection to APC to clinch the Party’s ticket, ended in deadlock, as Senator Godswill Akpabio insists that he should be given the slot to appoint a Governorship candidate for the APC in Akwa Ibom State, while Senator Udoedehe claims that he is the landlord of the APC in A’Ibom State, and as a result, should be given the Party ticket as to run as Governor come 2023.
Sources also said that several other meetings are still on the pipeline to arrive at a reasonable conclusion on whether the APC ticket should be given to OBA to run as Governor in 2023 or not.
There is no doubt that OBA is planning to defect from the Peoples Democratic because he has observed glaringly that his desperate desire to become the Governor of Akwa Ibom State has been roundly rejected, even by political stakeholders and delegates of the Party in the State. Continue Reading
