The Forum of Tinubu Shettima Support Groups (FOTSS-G) has called on the security agencies and well-meaning Nigerians to join hands and prevent a plot to install an interim government in Nigeria.
The National Chairman of FOTSS-G, Dr Abiso Kabir, who stated this while addressing journalists at a peaceful rally in Abuja, advised parties and individuals who have genuine complaints about the just concluded election to approach the courts to seek redress.
“We have watched in the past weeks how some misguided elements, hiding under a dubious claim to the exercise of free speech and democratic freedom, have attempted to turn back the hands of the clock, in their clamour for an interim government, in place of the duly democratically elected government of his Excellency, Distinguished Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
“Not only do we condemn this in its entirety, we also urge the security agencies and genuine lovers of democracy to join hands in preventing the evil plot from seeing the light of day.
“As major stakeholders in the nascent democratic process, we hereby advise those who believe that they have genuine complaints about the recently concluded presidential election to head for the courts in exercise of their constitutionally guaranteed rights to seek for justice”, he said.
He said those who are bent on truncating the democratic choice of Nigerians in electing Senator Tinubu as the next president should prepare to face the wrath of the people and the full weight of the law.
“We as true democrats cannot be intimidated by the noise making minority, who cannot reconcile with the reality of an electoral defeat, but would rather want to create chaos and confusion in the land.
“The current situation calls for serious introspection on the part of all concerned to avoid a repeat of the sordid experience of 1993, with the unjustified annulment of an election that was widely acclaimed as free and fair locally and internationally”, he noted.
Furthermore, Kabir said those who think that they can drag Nigeria back to those inglorious days should perish the thoughts, as Nigeria of today is much different from that period.
“What we should be doing is to engage in prayers for peace to reign and a successful inauguration of the incoming administration on the 29th of may, 2023.
“We hereby wish to appeal to well meaning Nigerians and the international community to pray for the incoming leadership under Distinguished Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Shettima for success
“As we celebrate Easter, may the good Lord bring enduring peace, unity and prosperity to our dear nation.
“We equally enjoin our Muslim brothers and sisters to use the period of the ongoing Ramadan to put Nigeria and the incoming administration in prayers for good governance and enduring democracy”, Kabir added.
