Kogi Youths, under the auspices of the Kogi Associated Youth Network, hailed the ruling of the Federal High Court on Friday, directing security agents to provide maximum security to Murtala Ajaka, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi state.
In a statement released in Abuja on Friday, the group, led by Victor Idajili, described the court order as timely and called for immediate compliance by the relevant security agencies.
A Federal High Court in Abuja had, on Thursday, issued the order, instructing security agencies in the country, including the Defence Headquarters, Army, Navy, DSS, and the Police, to ensure the safety and protection of the SDP governorship candidate pending the hearing of a suit filed before the court.
Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo issued the order while ruling on an ex-parte application brought by Murtala Ajaka, seeking a restraining order against the security agencies from arresting, inviting, detaining, or threatening his life and property pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.
