Nationnewslead report that As part of his avowed commitment to achieve the lofty objectives establishing the new ministry, the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola CON, on Thursday met with the teams from KPMG and Nigeria’s leading private sector think-tank, the Nigeria Economic Summit Group, to harvest ideas and explore innovative strategies capable of turning around the fortune of the sector.

Oyetola who received in audience, the private sector key-players in his office, said the initiative was aimed to properly harnessing the immense potential of Nigeria’s marine resources, and contribute to the nation’s economic diversification.

Recall that Oyetola, on assumption of office as the pioneer Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Ministry, has been engaging ‘who-is-who’ and concerned agencies, departments and parastatals under the new ministry to advance the cause of the ministry endure effective and efficient service delivery.

The Minister, who was inaugurated last Monday, began receiving briefings from the heads of agencies and departments under his ministry almost immediately.

Oyetola had earlier interacted and received briefs from all the departmental heads such as the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA); Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA); National Inland WaterWays Authority (NIWA) and Nigeria Shippers’ Council respectively where he promised to look into some of the issues impeding their smooth operations with relevant agencies of the government.

The Minister who rounded off the briefings on Wednesday with the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron and the Council for Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), used the occasion of the visit of the key players in the private sector on Thursday, to build and strengthen the socioeconomic ties for the growth and development of his ministry.

“I’m convinced that productive engagements like this will assist the Ministry in fulfilling the purpose for which it was created by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu”, Oyetola affirmed.
