THE newly-installed president of Rotary Club of Obantoko, Rotarian Ayodele Fakiyesi, has charged members of the association to prioritise selfless service to humanity.
Fakiyesi stated this shortly after his investiture as the 13th president of association in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The ceremony also witnessed presentation of awards, induction of board of directors and introduction of new members of the club.
Rotarian Omotoke Ilesanmi also emerged as president-elect of the club for the next Rotary year at the event where the guest speaker, Evang. Kolade Segun-Okeowo, and other speakers at the event charged club members on service to humanity and selfless service.
In his acceptance speech, Fakiyesi said the focus of the club remains the seven cardinal areas of maternal, child health projects, membership development, and retention through Rotary activities, club learning and leadership.
“By the special grace of God we shall steer the club’s resources in terms of treasure and talents efficiently and responsibly well, for a better and sustainable Rotary Club of Obantoko,” he said.
He said further that: “There are many needy people in our community and the world whose only hope will come from Rotary. Let us all leave here ready to make their lives better in any way that we can. As Rotarians, it will not be good enough to give only what we have left or what we can spare, but we must truly give off with the renewed vigor in support of the ideas of Rotary.
“Let us lead the way as Rotary shares its legacy of ‘service above self.
