Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, have arrested 10 suspected criminals in the state for various crimes in the state.

The crimes committed by the suspects included gang-raping, defilement, illegal abortion and fraud, among others.

Briefing journalists at the Agodi headquarters of the command at the weekend, the state commandant, Augustine Padonu, disclosed that four of the suspects were arrested for the gang rape of a 16-year-old girl, which resulted in pregnancy and subsequent illegal abortion.

The suspects are Qayum Babatunde (18), Azim Gbadamosi (19), Mutiu Olaniyi (43) and

Moshood Oyindamola (23), who is an unlicensed nurse who performed the abortion.

In a separate case, Aminu Victor (19) from Adamawa State, was arrested for allegedly defiling his boss’s nine-year-old daughter.

The Commandant also said that the Command’s Tracking Unit arrested several suspects involved in various financial fraud schemes, including one Bose Victoria Akanbi (23), who diverted about N738,670 from her boss’s Point of Sale (PoS) machine.

Another suspect, Bakare Jide Damilare (42), from Idowa, Odogbodu Local Government Area of Ogun State, but residing in Imota, Ikorodu, was accused of conspiracy and obtaining N17 million by false pretence.

The suspect was said to have been used by an accomplice at large who pretended he was helping him to build up an account to enable him travel abroad, but used multiple bank accounts to defraud one Sarumi Hakeem in a scheme involving the purchase of a Toyota Highlander SUV (2016 model).

Commandant Padonu also briefed journalists on one Alabi Victor (25), from Ile Ogbo, Osun State, who allegedly used his father’s account to defraud an individual.

The commandant assured the public that all suspects would be arraigned in court upon completion of investigations.

He also urged the good people of Oyo State to report any suspicious activities to NSCDC or other security agencies.
