Communities across the three senatorial district of Ondo State are expected to benefit from the 54 boreholes and installation of 1,600 solar-powered light just approved by the state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Engagement (Ondo Central), Mr Oluwafemi Fadairo disclosed this during an interaction with members of the Correspondents’ chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Akure, the state capital.

Fadairo stated that the gesture was in line with the vision of the present administration in the state to ensure that perennial water problem in the state becomes a thing of the past.

He said that most of the communities had been visited and their immediate needs identified while the proposal had been submitted to the governor for approval.

According to him, the state government embarked on the projects to invest more at the local level, noting many communities at the grassroots had been neglected over the years.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa is doing well in alleviating the sufferings of the people. He has been in the saddle of this government not up to a year and I believe that his four years will surpass the eight years of some past administrations because he has a listening ear.

“The atmosphere in the state is calm because of his leadership by example. These are the things i have been able to do in the past two months as SSA community for the central

“The governor also approved to the three SSA working for him in the north, south and central, 54 boreholes across the state to be supervised directly by our office towards the communities highlighted for him.

“He also approved 1,600 solar lights across the three senatorial districts and that is the first phase. The second phase will commence when we are through with the first phase.

“We move round interfacing with them (communities) and we noticed some common things in their requests like solar lights and good roads for transporting their goods.

“They need the lights because of criminals who use the bush as their hideout. Ours is to report back to the governor. About two weeks ago, the Ministry of Water Resources and my office got the approval for the resuscitation of Owena Dam and it is ongoing,” he said.

Fadairo said that what the governor had been able to achieve within the shortest time of his administration had endeared people of the state to him and is sure of victory in the coming November 16 governorship election.

The Senior Special Adviser also disclosed that the state governor had approved 20 kilometres of roads to each local government areas in the state.
