Embattled Acting National Chairman of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagun, has reaffirmed the political maturity and experience of the party in overcoming challenges caused by some self-interested individuals within party.
He was speaking on Thursday at the North-East PDP Zonal Caucus Meeting held in Bauchi as part of the ongoing reconciliation efforts of the party.
The Acting National Chairman used the occasion to assure members that the party remains committed and resolute despite the current internal crisis which he said will soon become history.
He emphasised that reconciliation efforts are ongoing to foster unity and reduce divisions ahead of the upcoming National Convention of the party.
In his remarks, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed who spoke on behalf of the PDP Governors in the subregion expressed confidence in the party’s strength and pledged the Governors’ support in fortifying its structure.
Bala Mohammed who is the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum also expressed optimism that the Party would secure the presidency in 2027 as Nigerians are tired of the misrule of the APC.
The North-East PDP Zonal Chairman, Rev. Emmanuel Bovoa assured that the Chairmen in the States are doing everything possible to ensure that the structure remains intact ahead of the National Convention and 2027 general elections.
Also speaking, Senator Abdul Ningi who spoke on behalf of members of the National Assembly from the zone, urged party members and leadership to remain committed to the ideals of the PDP.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss key issues related to the successful conduct of the party’s forthcoming Zonal and National Conventions.
