Former vice president Atiku Abubakar has said that he and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have completed the latest phase of deepening democracy, saying that the younger generation of Nigeria should now lead the charge.

Addressing press conference in Abuja on Wednesday following the recent judgment by the Supreme Court on his petition challenging the election of President Bola Tinubu, he however said that he would not go away.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said that for as long as he lives, he would work with other Nigerians to deepen democracy.

“As for me and my party, this phase of our work is done. However, I am not going away.

“For as long as I breathe I will continue to struggle, with other Nigerians, to deepen our democracy and rule of law and for the kind of political and economic restructuring the country needs to reach its true potential.

“That struggle should now be led by the younger generation of Nigerians who have even more at stake than my generation.”
