President Bola Tinubu is set to preside over the second meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) today, Monday.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) serves as the decision-making body of the government, comprising the President, Vice President (who presides over council meetings in the absence of the President), and the Ministers.
Other attendees include the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, National Security Adviser, Chief of Staff to the President, and any other relevant government officials invited to present papers.
Traditionally, FEC meetings were held on Wednesdays, but it appears that President Tinubu is shifting these meetings to Mondays.
In the inaugural meeting held on August 28, 2023, President Tinubu outlined his “Roadmap for the economy,” focusing on eight key areas: food security, poverty eradication, growth, job creation, access to capital, inclusion, the rule of law, and fighting corruption. T
The meeting emphasised the importance of plans to revive the economy within these thematic areas.
During today’s meeting, it is anticipated that the FEC will receive and review reports from ministers regarding the progress and initiatives within their respective ministries over the past two months.
