The Ayegun-Oleyo community, situated in the southwest area of Ibadan, Oyo State, is currently facing a difficult time due to the terrible state of its major road, known as the Ayegun-Oleyo road. The situation has no doubt become critical.
The road is full of potholes, causing transportation hitches and damage to vehicles. This has not only affected the daily commute of residents to and from different parts of this area but has also made the transportation of goods and services cumbersome, leading to an economic downturn.
The residents of Ayegun Oleyo Road, Ibadan, are fed up with the repeated calls for necessary action on the part of the government.
Apart from the psychological stress and frustration the people in the area are facing while plying the road daily on a ride to work, school runs, or business transactions, the daily traffic congestion is no joke at all. All of these have really made life difficult for the Ayegun-Oloye residents.
I must mention the fact that accidents occur on the road almost on a daily basis. The numerous potholes on the road have caused near misses, and sometimes head-on collisions involving “okada,” tricycles, as well as cars.
Let me use this medium to say that it is high time the government rose up to the cries of the Ayegun-Oleyo community and salvaged this major road from total destruction, which, if left unattended to, may lead to more loss of lives.
