Dapo Oyerinde has given reasons why he returned to his former party, All Progressives Congress (APC), in Egbeda Local Government, after spending time outside protesting against irregularities and injustice perpetrated within the party during the last general elections.
Oyerinde announced his defection to APC alongside the minister of power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu and other candidates and aspirants of the Accord Party recently.
He further explained that he did not leave the party for the purpose of contesting the election but to express his dissatisfaction against the poorly coordinated internal party democracy and absence of proper primary elections.
“It is not done anywhere for some people back then to have thwarted the internal democratic process of our great party because of whatever interest they might possibly have had. It is not what any democratically-oriented political player can tolerate.
“It was a reaction based on principle that forced many of us out,” added.
Speaking on his projection for the party after the numbers of defection back to the party, Oyerinde noted that “the coming back together of the progressives will boost the party image and strengthen their future political engagement and contests.
“Where you see Minister of Power, Adelabu, former ALGON Chairman, Abass Aleshinloye, Hon. Yemi Ariba, Mr. Kolapo Kola-Daisi, Sen. Ayoade Adeseun, Baba Sanda, Hon. Akinjide Kazeem, Alhaji Gani Alade, Hon. Fagunwa and many other notable political figures, you should be able to understand that, the party is in for a big run and ready to take back the government of the state at all levels within the state and as well further boost the national image of the party.
“In short, we are back for good in APC. I am thanking my supporters for their continuous belief in my political interest and ambition to represent our people for better dividends of democracy.” Oyerinde concluded.
