Nationnewslead reports that Deputy Governor, State of Osun, Mr Benedict Alabi, has urged Nigerians to have strong faith and renew hope in God, assuring them that the new year would be better, with more unimaginable blessings.

He said though the outgone year 2020 was obviously tough, rough and very challenging, the new year 2021 would be a year of recovery for the people of Osun and the country at large.

Alabi, gave the assurance while speaking with newsmen shortly after a new year church service, held at St Benedict Catholic Cathedral, Osogbo, the state capital.

He restated that Governor Oyetola’s administration remained committed to the full implementation of ‘2021 Budget of Providence’ to enhance the standard of living of the citizenry in the state and engender total turnaround of infrastructure.

The Deputy Governor, however, implored the people to continue to adhere strictly to COVID-19 safety guidelines, in order to be insulated against the seeming second wave of the pandemic.

He said, “As a people, we should be more careful because people are no more taking COVID-19 protocols seriously as they should and now feeling relaxed, instead of consistently protecting themselves against the virus, thinking that the pandemic is no more.

“What we should know is that the second wave of the coronavirus is more dangerous than people think.

“Let us continue to do the needful by protecting ourselves against the spread of the pandemic, and the only way to do this is by observing the already laid down protocols”.

In his new year message to the people, the Lord Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Osogbo, Most Reverend John Oyejola, said the season called for joyous celebration and sharing of the mood with one another.

He, added that despite the various challenges that trailed the outgone year, the people of God must not entertain any fear but to continue to put their trust in God, by renewing their faith in him with the hope for better future.

“Christ’s birth has come to offer us hope. And so, I urge you not to nurse any fear within you, but continue to trust Christ’s grace in abundance.

“I enjoin us to use this difficult and challenging days to review the shape of our lives, our priorities and our mission, as we commence this new year.

“I further urge you to please remain committed to your faith, spend more time with your family and pray together”, Oyejola admonished.
