Mr Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, said President Bola Tinubu’s victory was fair and square in the last conducted 2023 presidential election.
In an interview with General Editor Taiwo Adisa, he stated that the 2023 presidential campaign is the most vicious he has seen in a political setting.
He said, ”Let me say that I have been involved in national campaigns before but I have never witnessed the kind of campaigns we had, especially from the opposition against the person of President Tinubu.
It was the most malicious campaign ever waged by the opposition against the ruling party’s candidate. That was why after Tinubu won.”
He further said the election was the handiwork of God, as the victory was not based on Tinubu’s political strategy alone.
Adding that, it was thought that the intensive campaign had ended after the election. But, much to their amazement, it has only gotten worse. They are still on the offensive. In his opinion, there must be a clear winner in an election.
Onanuga stated, ”INEC declared Tinubu the winner, and he won fair and square. It was very clear he won. If it had been a two-horse race, and the opposition had combined forces, maybe he would have been beaten because everything was against him. Even though our candidate is a member of the ruling party, there were all kinds of things that some officials of the former government did that ought to have worked seriously against us.
