Three weeks after the drone attack in Tudun Biri, Igabi local government area of Kaduna, no fewer than 30 people suffering from different ailments have been admitted to Barau Dikko Hospital in the last week.

This was disclosed by a member of the ruling houses, Idris Dahiru in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune on Wednesday.

Giving an update on the conditions of patients who were on admission in hospitals since the attack, he remarked, “Many victims have been discharged but were taken to a facility to work on their psycho as a result of the blast which had affected them.

“We have a case of a 17-year-old girl whose memory has been affected and her parents took her to Katsina but they brought her back. Most of what is remaining is the rehabilitation process.

“But within a week, more people have been brought to the hospital because they are suffering from one ailment or the other as a result of the aftermath of the drone attack.

“Just two days ago, I opened new cards for them. They’re bringing them in twos, threes, etc.. On the whole, about 30 have been on admission since last week.

“The leadership of the hospital, Professor Abdulkadir Musa Tabari has been doing a good job as well as the welfare committee set up to look after the victims in the hospital. They’re working day and night to ensure victims are well taken care of. We thank them most sincerely.”

“So any person who tells you that the patients are not being taken care of is not true. Since the incident, I have been here with them because most of them are my relations.

“They feed the patients three times daily. They give them healthy food. They also take care of their medication and other needs, he enthused.

“The Commissioner of Health, Umma Kaltum Ahmed is very kind-hearted person who listens to our various complaints and acts promptly. We are indeed grateful to her,” he stressed.

Dahiru also denied five thousand naira donation by the vice president during the latter’s visit to the hospital.

According to him, “What the VP gave to each of the injured people was fifty thousand naira. We have to set the record straight for posterity”.

He also expressed their gratitude to the state emergency management agency under the leadership of Dr Usman Hayyatu who donated 50 wrappers to the women victims.

“He asked me to come to their office and donate the wrappers. I later went to the hospital and gave each woman one wrapper.

“The Executive Secretary has been very helpful. Always coming to see how we are faring.

He also said the state governor, Senator Uba Sani is also trying to see that they get the attention of the government.

“We thank him for his magnanimity towards the victims, injured as well as the people of the area. He has directed the setting up of a clinic to take care of those who might seek medical attention.

“Finally, I want you the media. The radio and television both nationally and internationally. The papers too especially your paper (Tribune) and you in particular. Many of your reports have helped us. The most recent one was the one you wrote on Christmas Eve (Sunday). The government responded. They sent a representative to celebrate Christmas with our fellow Christian brothers and even donate food items to them.
