This article has a thorough detail of the simple snacks you can make with N5,000 this Easter. If you take your time, you’ll surely get a good result.

1. Puff Puff

This is a very common snack we see around; quite easy to make. You don’t have to know how to prepare it before; just follow the simple steps below. If you can successfully make this snack happen for Easter — you’ll really be appreciated and loved because it is people’s delight.

Ingredients

  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Nutmeg
  • Yeast
  • Cinnamon Powder
  • Water
  • Vegetable/ Soya oil

Step-by-step guide:

  • Get a big bowl depending on the quantity you’re preparing.
  • Add all the dry ingredients together.
  • Mix thoroughly to make sure it is lump-free.
  • Add water (make sure it is moderate).
  • Cover the bowl with foil paper or any other wrapper.
  • Place it in a cool place for 40-45 minutes.

After all the process above, the batter would have risen; deflate it and mix well again. By now, your oil should be on fire heating. If it is your first time making puff puff, use a table spoon for scooping it into the oil. This is so because you might not be so good with just your hands. The aim is to achieve round balls in a moderate size.

Note: Your oil must not be too hot or else it will have a burnt look.

2. Fish Roll

Fish rolls made painstakingly are always delicious. Please, take your time when making this one for Easter so you can arrive at a nice taste. It is either fried or baked, but the process shared here is for the former.

Ingredients

  • Flour
  • Margarine
  • Sugar
  • Yeast
  • Water
  • Onions
  • Fish
  • Oil

  • Salt

Step-by-step Guide:

  • For the fish filling — rinse the fish thoroughly; add salt, curry powder, onions and water — leave to steam for about 5 minutes. After this, remove the bones and mash the fish together.
  • Fry the mashed fish with little oil on a low heat for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Sprinkle some flour on your working surface, transfer the dough and knead. Divide the dough into smaller bits; roll it out with a rolling pin — do this often.

  • Drop the fish rolls in a heated oil; turn it as it changes into golden brown.
