AN Islamic women organisation, Al-Qanitaat Sisterhood (QSO), has urged the Federal Government to urgently review and enhance the country’s security apparatus with a view to ending the spate of kidnappings and allowing Nigerians to live in peace.

The organisation, in a statement signed by its Amirah, Hajiya Rashida Ibrahim, lamented the recent escalation in abductions across the country, particularly the case of the Al-Kadriyar family at Bwari, Abuja.

According to QSO, an organisation that works to support and provide opportunities for women through education, knowledge acquisition and livelihood enhancement, the killing of one of the daughters of Al-Kadriyar, Naheeba, by the abductors of the family was not only shocking but also horrifying.

The Muslim women group asserted that when lives are cut short, the promise that could have accrued to the society and country at large is lost.

It, therefore, declared that the escalation in the brutal abductions and kidnappings should be of grave concern to the security agencies and government of Nigeria.

The group said: “We are making an ardent appeal to the government to urgently review and enhance the security and protective apparatus of the country, such that it will bring to an end, the rampant spate of kidnappings and abductions, and will allow Nigerians, especially the vulnerable, to live and thrive in peace and security, wherever they may reside in the country.”

“QSO has been following with great concern, the recent escalation in the spate of abductions and kidnappings, including the situation with the abduction of the Al-Kadriyar family, including their six daughters.

“Together with the rest of the country, we give thanks to Almighty Allah that our prayers for their safe release have been answered.

“Al Qanitaat Sisterhood was shocked and horrified to receive the news of the death of one of the sisters at the hands of the abductors.

“When lives are cut short, the promise that could have accrued to the society and country at large is lost. The escalation in the brutal abductions and kidnappings should be of grave concern to the security agencies and government of Nigeria.

“We also want to felicitate with the families on the safe release of the A-Kadriyar sisters and all other women and children in captivity that were released.

“As Muslims, we submit to the will of Allah at all times, as we all belong to Him, and will return to Him ultimately.

“May Allah have mercy on the soul of Nabeeha and others that have had their lives cut short. We pray for ease for their families in these difficult times.”

It added: “Al-Qanitaat Sisterhood (QSO) is an Islamic women’s organisation that works to support and provide opportunities for women through education, knowledge acquisition and livelihood enhancement.

“We use the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah to empower women to positively impact the family structure and society at large.

“With an understanding of the key role that women play in the structure of society, especially as it relates to the upbringing of children as the next generation, we target our efforts towards the proper orientation and guidance of women and children.”
