Amidst heavy security measures, Crown Prince Afeez Siyanbola Oladigbolu of Oyo joined faithful Muslims in observing the Eid al-Fitr prayer ceremony in Oyo. Addressing the congregation, Prince Afeez emphasized the importance of continuing acts of kindness beyond the holy month of Ramadan.

In his address, the Crown Prince urged Muslims worldwide to maintain the spirit of compassion and generosity displayed during Ramadan throughout the year. He highlighted the need for ongoing support to those in need and emphasized the significance of community unity in fostering positive change.

Expressing personal concern for the current state of the ancient town of Oyo, Prince Afeez acknowledged the vacancies left by the passing of Oba Abdul Hammed Adeyemi III and late Mashood Adebayo Ajokidero, the Chief Imam of Oyo. The absence of these key figures has contributed to a sense of stagnancy within the town since Oba Adeyemi’s passing in April 2022.

Addressing the community, the Crown Prince called for unwavering prayers for divine intervention and urged Muslim leaders and residents to remain steadfast in their faith. Additionally, he appealed to the youth to refrain from engaging in violence, emphasizing the futility of such actions and advocating for peaceful civil engagement.

Prince Afeez cautioned against instigating unrest and reminded the youth of the importance of constructive dialogue and civic participation. He encouraged them to exercise their democratic rights responsibly, advising against resorting to violence or undermining government institutions.

In a gesture of solidarity with the elderly, the Crown Prince extended a helping hand to senior citizens within the community, emphasizing the importance of supporting and honoring the elder members of society.

The presence of heavy security underscored the significance of the occasion and the importance of maintaining peace and stability within the community, as Oyo navigates through this period of transition and vacancy in key leadership roles.
