Former member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon (Dr) Samuel Omotoso has accused the police in the State of being used as tool by the All Progressives Congress (APC) of Governor Kayode Fayemi to hunt opposition elements in the State, describing the statement made yesterday, by the State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Abutu that he had gone into hiding as ‘untrue and capable of misleading the general Public.”
He maintained that “the allegation of sexual assault against me is frivolous and a politically motivated falsehood by the Principal of Christ Girls, Mrs Esan, who considered herself as an old foe and the details had been addressed in my comprehensive press release of Friday, the 29th of April, 2021.”
The former lawmaker, who assured the police that he was presently in Ekiti State and not in hiding, added that he was only maintaining a low safety profile due to the incessant and severally obvious threats to end his life and will definitely and personally visit the command and respond to the false allegation and clear his name built over the years as soon as it is safe for him from the unknown callers threatening to end his life.
On the alleged sexual assault, Omotoso said; “My media exposure of this falsehood was followed by a barrage of unknown callers threatening my life for having the effrontery to address the press exposing the falsehood and one of the callers using a private number promised to shoot me dead anywhere I am seen, saying that I have refused to learn from my colleague, Hon Dayo Adeleye.
“These threats necessitated my instant petition on threat to my life to the Honourable Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, dated 6th of May 2021.
“This latest petition on serious threat to my life was one out of several petitions to the police on the same subject matter over the years and up till now, nobody has been brought to book. Even when I wrote a direct statement of complaints at the State CID in July 2018, when I was almost shot dead if not for God, even mentioning names, nothing was done till today.
“Without sounding repetitive, on Monday the 25th of April, 2021, the Principal of Christ Girls School and without my wife’s or the mother’s consent abducted from my house a wayward girl, (as confirmed by her mum and elder brother) and who had run away from two previous family she had lived with but now living with my wife (on pleadings from the mother to my wife to help train her), and the principal weaponised her to lie against me, vide brainwashing and inducement that once done, the girl will become the daughter of the Governor’s wife with an all expenses paid free feeding, clothing and free academics up to University level.
“It is worth noting that the Vice Principal of the same school countered this lie in front of the same principal on Thursday, the 28th of April 2021 in the presence of the girl’s mother, brother, family lawyer and two policemen that the girl is up to mischief because she (VP), still asked the girl in March ending 2021, just before Easter and in the school premises, if anything like sexual harassment ever happened to her where she lived or elsewhere and the girl answered with an emphatic no.
“This should have naturally prompted the conspirators to abandon the poorly schemed subject matter or tenaciously confront the girl with the lies and discard it but the Principal, who was out to settle old scores with me will have none of it.
“Rather, when the girl being used couldn’t alleged me properly in her statements for lack of nothing to write, the principal scolded her and further appointed a predetermined teacher to dictate what the girl should write.
“This happened in the presence of the girl’s family lawyer despite his protest and with evidence.
“Therefore, by running to the press, the police in Ekiti state have justified that they were out to serve the ultimate goals of my political detractors, who are behind the orchestrated and politically motivated falsehood, designed to embarrass, harass, ridicule and use the machinery of the State to oppress and keep me out of circulation ahead of the next year Ekiti State Governorship Election fireworks.
“I condemn all forms of gender based violence including sexual harassment in all ramifications and it is very malicious to import such false allegation against me or any other innocent citizen, all to achieve political ends.
“Since when my colleague in the 5th assembly, Hon Dayo Akinleye (Maxima) was attacked and badly battered in October 2020, when his GNN Guest House was completely destroyed and riddled with bullets by known political thugs caught on camera and with the video made widely available and yet, Hon Dayo Akinleye with injuries on his head was still the one detained for days and he, the victim was still the one charged to court, I have learnt to maintain a very low safety profile, more so when grapevine told me then, that I am next in line of attacks which is manifesting now.
“I want to assure the Ekiti State Police Command that I am presently in Ekiti State, I am not in hiding but only maintaining a low safety profile due to the incessant and severally obvious threats to end my life and I will definitely and personally visit the command and respond to the false allegation and clear my name built over the years as soon as it is safe for me from the unknown callers threatening to end my life.”
